Member Benefits
The Oral History Review
The Oral History Review, published semi-annually by Oxford University Press, presents theoretical and methodological discussions taking place in the profession. Oral History Association members and subscribers will find online issues of the journal and subscription information at http://ohr.oxfordjournals.org/.
A greatly expanded electronic environment for the Oral History Review includes information about the journal, instructions for authors, registration for e-mail table-of-contents reminders, helpful links, CiteTrack alerts for newly published content that matches your search criteria, and online searching and reference linking.
With a publish-ahead-of-print feature called “Advance Access,” authors and readers will find the latest articles available online within a few weeks of final acceptance for publication. Best of all, the back issues have been scanned and processed and are available online in the Oxford Journals Digital Archive for subscribers to the Digital Archive and freely accessible to OHA members as one of the benefits of membership in the association.
OHA Newsletter
Members of the OHA receive up-to-date information about current activities and immediate issues in the OHA Newsletter, published three times a year. New members are encouraged to print the Oral History Evaluation Guidelines, a document outlining professional standards for the practice of oral history, from our website. Other association publications include pamphlets on such topics as community history and the legal aspects of oral history.
Additional Benefits
Members receive reduced registation fees at our annual meeting which meets each fall in one of four regions in North America. The annual meetings include panels and papers that address a wide variety of theoretical, topical, and practical issues related to oral history. Recent meeting themes have included community history, America since the Civil rights movement, and varieties of ethnic history. Workshop sessions emphasize practical matters such as legal concerns, media applications, and preservation and access. Meetings also provide opportunities to get to know oral historians from around the world.
Members who “opt in” to our Membership Directory will have access to contact information for others who have agreed to become part of the directory.
The Oral History Review is published by Oxford and the subscription and membership are combined. You may join online here.
