Resources

The Oral History Association offers a rich variety of resources for those interested in every facet of doing, promoting, researching, collecting, and preserving oral history:

The OHA Wiki is a place to find the best online resources.  Based on the same wiki engine as Wikipedia, the OHA Wiki offers oral historians both an easy way to find information that they need, but an easy way to share, build, and create resources.  On the OHA Wiki, you can find a number of guides and resources to help you with doing oral history; more information about the workings of the Oral History Association; handy lists of regional associations, oral history collections, and oral history centers; and much more.  Stop back often to see the updates.

The OHA Network is a social networking space for those interested in oral history.  It is a great place to connect with other oral historians; create groups around special interests; and share and find resources, events, and news items.  The OHA Network share many of the same features as popular social networking places like Facebook and Myspace, but is dedicated to serving the needs of oral historians.  Sign up for an account and get started making connections.  You will find easy to follow help sections if you have problems, but don’t hesitate to ask others in the network about things you can do.

H-Oralhist is a network for scholars and professionals active in studies related to oral history and is affiliated with the Oral History Association.  H-Oralhist is an important medium for discussion of oral history issues and research. It is a great place for oral historians to connect with others who share their interests as well as a great place to find the latest news, events, research, and resources. H-Oralhist is part of the H-Net network of scholarly listservs.

Beyond the digital resources of the OHA Wiki and Network, the OHA offers a host of other resources.  Don’t forget to check out the latest publications. Yet, remember, oral history is all about making contact with people, so don’t hesitate in joing us at our annual meeting and joining the Oral History association, two great ways to enhance your oral history network.

    Hi,
I’m the storyteller that was invited to present a performance about Claudette Colvin, 15 yr old teenager arrested prior to Rosa Parks at your Portland, OR annual meeting. CAN you help me find oral historians in Oakland or Berkeley, CA that might be interested in working on a racial healing oral history project? Thanks for any assistance!
