Throughout the United States, there are many institutions that capture the oral histories of veterans. One institution that has engaged in collecting oral histories of World War II veterans is the California State Military Museum. Accompanied by the University of California, Los Angeles and California State University Los Angeles, the program aims to use the oral histories to help “supplement the history instruction at all California elementary, intermediate and high schools.” Those in charge with performing the oral histories are everyday individuals, a common thread emerging in World War II oral history. 1
