Try It Out/How to Fry An Egg

Eggs are a basic food that everyone likes to eat. Here is a standard way to cook an egg that you learn to do (if you don't know already)

What You Will Need

  • An egg (or eggs)
  • A frying pan
  • Butter (or margerine, or oil)
  • A spatula
  • A Stove or electric griddle

Steps

1. Turn on the stove's burner to medium. Place the pan on the burner to preheat.

2. Place a small dollop of butter in the pan. Watch for the butter to melt.

3. When the butter has melted, spread the melted butter over the pan's surface with the spatula.

4. Crack the egg, and pour egg from its shell into the pan. Repeat for each egg.

5. Season the egg(s) with salt and pepper.

6. Watch the egg as it cooks. The clear egg white will turn white.

7. (optional) The egg will be ready to flip for over easy when the egg white is mostly white, but with a thin, uncooked translucent layer at the top. Slide the spatula under the egg and flip it.

8. When egg is done (totally cooked white for sunny side up), or after about 10 seconds for over easy, remove it from the pan.

Tips

  • With practice, flipping an egg becomes easier.
  • Don't worry if the yolk breaks. The egg still tastes good.
