World War II Exhibits
From OHA Wiki
Many museums use oral histories to create as well as supplement exhibits. At the Upcountry Museum in Greenville, South Carolina, students have been performing oral histories in order to create an exhibit. The students who are part of the project recognize the value of oral history; one student states that the oral history of a veteran really enforces the history and makes it come alive, much more than a textbook. 1
The Minnesota History Center, located in St. Paul, has also used oral history for exhibits. In the center’s new exhibit, World War II oral history interviews are used to tell the story of “Minnesota’s Greatest Generation.” Supplementing the oral history in the exhibit is a vintage movie theatre that displays images from the time, as well as a fuselage of a transport plane, and a soda fountain.2
